I am going to attempt to build a 30' pontoon/house boat this summer. i am planning, if it is possible, to use big plastic barrels to make this sucker float.. The boat is built from scrap wood and large plastic barrels. my friend who helped build the boat with me and i are always finding ways to improve it. spring/ summer 2014 we will improve it even more to take long trips down the st. croix river in maine.. There's a lot more to a pontoon boat then the pontoons, so though you have some free or cheap potential pontoon stock, you still need the rest of the boat, making the cheap barrels, less attractive then at first blush..
